I began “Chernobyl. The Invisible Friend” with the aim of collaborating with associations in Spain devoted to taking in juveniles affected by the Chernobyl disaster, specifically those from Belarus. The intention of these associations was to welcome and provide support for these children, but the war in Ukraine has erected walls between European countries again.

I had no alternative but to portray those who have remained on the other side; those who without the help of governments are always left in the lurch. Our only hope is that politicians resolve their differences and enable us to provide assistance to these minors once again.
