“Cries” consists of an open and on-going project devoted to compiling real-life testimonies of women who have been subjected to violence of different kinds.
I myself am one such victim, who for ten years was driven from my home with two children and forced to seek refuge in a women’s shelter, without anything and far from family and friends. This was what led to the creation of “Cries”.
The purpose of the project is to raise social awareness and to highlight the serious problem of male violence. Its work consists of providing the participants with a voice in order for them to say “NO” to violence and to establish whether the resources at our disposal are sufficient to tackle the problem. I would like to be a wake-up call for both society and institutions and lead to legal reforms against violence.
