Montse Santamaría returns to take the camera again to embark on a new visual journey that would take her from the analog image to the digital, primarily using the mobile phone.
I learned to take pictures when I arrived in Madrid in 1960. I was privileged because my teachers were three wonderful photographers: Gabriel Cualladó, Paco Gómez, and Ramón Masats. We went out every Sunday to take pictures... and I hopped into the photo pickup. Thus, I began with a Pentax. Montse Santamaría.
After a period during which Montse Santamaría was forced to pause her photography, in 1975 she started working in the photography department of the magazine Cambio 16. While working in the laboratory, hundreds of images passed through her hands. This way, she resumed her artistic practice and took up the camera again to embark on a new visual journey that would take her from the analog image to the digital, primarily using the mobile phone.
Montse is not interested in grand events but is passionate about the street, everyday life, and small details. Ramón Cascado.
