While migration policies are being discussed in the corridors of power, the conditions in the less known “jungle” in Dunkirk reveal the total vulnerability of the refugees coming to Europe in search of a better life.
Calais is sadly the most infamous refugee camp in the media, yet where the situation is even more alarming is at the Grande-Synthe facility in Dunkirk, the worst refugee camp that has so far existed in Europe.
I have been working for 12 months as a photographer and volunteer at both these camps, recording the refugees’ arrival and departure.
