AUTUMN FLOWERS

Old people’s sexuality is a taboo topic, and heterosexuality is more than taken for granted. These stereotypes persist even in Spain, whose legislation, among the most advanced in Europe, recognises the rights of homosexuals. When they reach old age, LGTB people disappear from the collective imagination and become invisible.

Many of them live alone, even if they have a partner. While in their youth they were unable to form a family or had conflicts with it, as they approach old age some fear the "return to the closet", above all if they go into an old people's home.

In "Autumn Flowers" I set out to give them a voice to share their stories. In the face of stereotypes, I invite them to reflect on the realities around them that are so often ignored.
