The pibes of Vuriloche

Bariloche is a tourist resort in Patagonia, Argentina, known as “Little Switzerland”, but also as “Vuriloche”, and historically a focal point for internal migration.

In accordance with the quote attributed to Pythagoras: “Educate the children and it won’t be necessary to punish the men”, the Encuentro Group has been working for the last twenty-nine years with the firm conviction that the care and supervision of new generations are vital for breaking the vicious circle of poverty and inequality. Social educators work together with pibes (“little rascals”), children at risk, to help them cover their basic needs, not by means of welfare our handouts but by focusing on education, creativity and the generation of resources.
