Contemplative photography
Nalanda Miksang

Over and above styles, the technique used for the epoch, a photograph’s power lies in the keenness of the photographer’s eye.

As photographers, we learn technique, composition, and history, yet we do not understand the workings of visual perception, which is the basis of photography. We are full of pre-established ideas, opinions, and other people’s criteria on what a photograph should be like, thus distorting our own outlook.

Contemplative photography is an art that helps us to recognise perception before any thought intervenes. We then convert that experience into a photo. The images we obtain are simple, fresh, and direct.
