The research conducted in recent years is displayed in this exhibition dedicated to one of the most significant, yet perhaps least known, 19 th century characters.
Monsieur Ardan is the pseudonym that this mysterious figure used to sign his work in which he adopts an introspective approach to present the society, science and culture of his time through studies and photographs taken on some of his geographical expeditions and travels to remote places.
Like almost all his contemporary science devotees, M. Ardan was multi-talented; he combined studies on botany with the search for fossils, with a particular penchant for dinosaurs, but he was also a writer, artist, map-maker and forerunner of several photographic and pre-cinematographic techniques.
The research continues.
